Club Nacional de Football is a Uruguayan sports institution founded on May 14, 1899 in Montevideo, conceived by young students to consolidate a football firmly Uruguayan in the face of the hegemonic European clubs, mainly English and German; for this reason it is recognized as the "first criollo team" of the country and one of the first clubs founded by nationals in America.
The Challenge
Club Nacional de Football faced a problematic situation: its website required an urgent technological update to stay competitive and secure, but it depended on other institutions to manage it, which made updates and maintenance difficult. It needed a development team capable of replicating its previous site, modernizing it with an up-to-date architecture, and providing easy-to-use management tools so the club could administer it internally, without relying on third parties. This team should implement a scalable solution, with its own management system, maintenance procedures, security and monitoring, and an intuitive administration interface that would allow real-time updates of content, events, results, and news, ensuring operational continuity and greater technological autonomy.
The Solution
DigitalProjex took charge of creating an identical site in identity and design to the previous one, respecting the Club Nacional de Football’s history and solving external management dependency by enabling the club to manage content internally; by basing it on Drupal, a scalable and secure solution was achieved that facilitates real-time updates of news, events, and results, maintains visual coherence with the club’s identity, and offers advantages such as security, role-based access control, media management, performance and SEO, as well as a review workflow to ensure quality and operational continuity.

The Club Nacional de Football portal is a comprehensive solution that strengthens the club’s technological autonomy by allowing internal site management, maintaining brand coherence and the institution’s identity. The Drupal-based solution is scalable and secure, designed to grow with the club’s needs and facilitate future improvements. It highlights simplified content management, with review workflows and role controls, reducing dependence on third parties and optimizing editorial processes. It also offers improved performance, better SEO, and more efficient media management, ensuring operational continuity through self-managed maintenance and updates. This solution provides a robust, autonomous platform aligned with the club’s identity.
