Monitoring of phenological and climatic events
CLIMArroz is a project developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) of Uruguay. INIA is dedicated to creating technologies and knowledge to support the demands of producers, industries, and consumers, while positively impacting the economy, environment, and society. Founded in 1989, INIA has been a pioneer in agricultural research in Uruguay.
The Challenge
INIA approached DigitalProjex with a specific challenge: to design and develop a mobile application that enhances planning and decision-making in rice cultivation. The solution needed to leverage historical climatic data to predict essential phenological events, support farmers, agronomists, and agricultural professionals in optimizing rice crop management, and ensure compatibility with Android and iOS platforms.

The Solution
DigitalProjex delivered a comprehensive solution. The backend system was designed to manage users and crops, and to integrate a database for storing and processing historical climate data. Automated synchronization with INIA’s climate stations ensured real-time updates for key metrics such as temperature, solar radiation, and sunshine levels. Persistent data storage was implemented to support efficient long-term use.
The Result
CLIMArroz has emerged as a comprehensive tool for monitoring climatic variables and phenological events in rice cultivation across Uruguay. The project achieved a powerful backend that seamlessly manages users, crops, and historical data, ensuring accurate and real-time information. The mobile application simplifies user interaction, providing organized access to phenological and climatic data, complemented by visual tools like charts and tables.
An innovative alert system links phenological changes to actionable crop management practices, such as weed control, disease prevention, and irrigation planning. By combining cutting-edge technology with practical agricultural applications, CLIMArroz empowers professionals in the agricultural sector to make informed decisions, ultimately boosting productivity and sustainability.
